General
hint: To see all and cheap possibilities use search-engines, depending of your
country: Megaflieger, Opodo, Whichbudget, Jetcost. Its advised, to
use such search-engines only to get the information, NOT for booking, because
you have to book your bicycle too and that can cause problems using the search
engines. Book directly at the website of the founded airline! At some airlines
simply with a click, at others by phone. Typical price for a bike is about 30
Euro. To get knowledge which airlines fly to one or another airport it is
advisable also to visit websites of corresponding airports.
UNITED KINGDOM (February 17 18)
There are many direct and cheap flights to London from
all countries of Europe. Check Ryanair or Wizzair.
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO (February 19 26)
The
islands are served by international flights which land at Piarco International Airport in Trinidad and A.N.R. Robinson International Airport in
Tobago. The main airlines are American Airlines, Carribean
Airlines, United, Condor, British
Airways, and Virgin
Atlantic. To our knowledge the cheapest direct flight from London
is operated by Carribean
Airlines.
Both
islands are connected by Inter-Island Ferry Service
between Port of Spain, Trinidad and Scarborough, Tobago. About public
transportation inside islands read here.
VENEZUELA (February 27 March 17)
You
have to find a flight to Caracas
Simon Bolivar International Airport. From Europe the
direct flights are operated by Iberia from
Madrid, Air France from Paris. The
cheapest option is to fly by Carribean
Airlines from London, Gatwick.
Here you can find information about
Venezuelan domestic airlines; and book here. The
most of them have flights to Maturin which is ~100 km from our route, fewer
flights to Ciudad Bolivar or Ciudad Guyana (Puerto Ordaz).
Also there is an airport in Santa Elena connected by Rutaca and Conviasa airlines with
Puerto Ordaz and Ciudad Bolivar. Schedules change
frequently, and you should contact
the airlines at the Ciudad Bolívar Airport to find out more information
about the flights.
The bus
transport is regular, and you can reach our route on the main highway (BR-174) by bus from
Caracas. More hints about travel by bus in Venezuela read here.
BRAZIL: Roraima State (March 18 24)
The
best way is to fly from Caracas (through Ciudad Bolivar) to Santa Elena or the Brazil

to Brazil (Boa Vista). You can read impressions of the journey by bus from
Caracas here.

BRAZIL (April 24 August 5)
The
main international airports on our route are Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and
Recife, with regular connections between these cities and to destinations all
over the world. To reach us in remote parts take a domestic flight. Domestic
air travel within Brazil is a well-organized form of transportation. A map of
all airports in Brazil you can find here. There
are two major airlines that fly both international and domestic routes: TAM (has regular
flights to Europe and the USA), and GOL (flies
internationally only to Latin America countries).
You can
use also the Brazilian bus system which consists of many different bus carriers
and terminals, and you can reach by bus every bigger city on our route. You can
purchase a ticket on-line via the booking system Brazil Bus Travel. Travelling by
bus in Brazil is economical, comfortable and safe. It is possible to take your
bike on long distance buses but it depends on the bus company and luggage
storage space. More info about Brazil bus services read here.
It is
advisable to buy far in advance the return ticket from Rio de Janeiro because
prices can go up with the Olympic Games approaching.
